We follow Dr. Montessori’s belief that this type of education should be available for all children. Therefore, it is our goal to keep the tuition affordable. We offer: an infant/toddler program, five Primary Montessori classes, two elementary classes (covering 1stthrough 6th grade) as well as an after-school program. Full-time and part-time classes are available - and where there is a need, we also have before and after-school care. Extra-curricular activities such as music, Spanish, and art are also offered on site. Nutritious Snacks and a hot lunch are included for full-time students.
Our campus is conveniently located off Butler Road, and has easy access to highway 385. Following the long driveway down, our main campus is tucked away from the busyness of the main road. Before you even enter the parking lot, you are sure to notice a few things about our school…perhaps one of the four age-appropriate playgrounds, or maybe even the countless mature, deciduous trees that offer shade. You may not notice that one of our buildings, the Gym provides a space in which the older children can move about a little more – it includes an indoor basketball court as well as two stages for performances. Research shows that the first six years of life are the most important years for a child. Our infant and toddler programs help to prepare your child to enter into one of our Primary Montessori Classrooms. Children from six weeks to three years of age are given an environment which helps to promote self-discovery. The infant and toddler classes help the child to develop social skills as well as allow for independent exploration, learning, and create a strong base for education which encourages the joy of discovering the world. Included in the Toddler classes are directed group experiences including songs, stories, snacks, outdoor play, and movement. The primary environments combine concrete academics with practical life activities. Mathematics, Reading, and writing are introduced in concrete ways – helping to create a solid understanding of these subjects at an early age. During this developmental period it is easy to see the increase in the student’s ability to focus, absorb, and learn new skills. Nothing satisfies a child’s intrinsic desire to learn more than exploring their own intellectual interests. During these ages, children are especially sensitive to language, social grace, spatial relationships, art, and music. Our Elementary Program, referred to as Bergamo – is named after a town in Italy which was the home of the first Montessori Elementary classroom, and still trains teachers in the Montessori Method. Bergamo is the next step after primary for the developmentally progressing child. No longer content in simply asking “what”, but instead students are now looking to discover the “how” and “why”. The academics of Bergamo are advanced and adjusted to embrace abstract thinking – the next building block in their study of math, science, language, and critical reasoning. The Bergamo students find themselves challenged to answer questions, many of which they themselves ask. Acknowledgement of social responsibility, right and wrong, just and unjust helps to create a whole child who can be a benefit to the world around them. |
